Do you know when you’ve had too much to drink?
Have you recently gained or lost weight?
Holidays tend to come with holiday drinks. Christmas eggnog and New Year’s Eve champagne just go well together. It can be difficult to know whether or not you’ve had too much to drink. You may feel fine, but if you have recently lost weight you may not be able to drink as much as you have in the past.
How Many Drinks Can You Have?
A few weeks ago, the Dearborn Patch published an article showing a table of how much you or I can drink before we can no longer drive. The table was provided by Virginia Tech Alcohol Abuse Prevention. The way you identify how much you may be able to drink prior to your judgment being affected is by weight and amount of alcohol.
One piece that I found interesting is that recently my good friend lost 25 pounds. Those 25 pounds could be the difference between driving safely and possible criminal charges. Also if you are a woman and your weight is 120 pounds and under, even 1 drink could put you in a situation that could have you facing criminal charges.
According to the Virginia Tech Alcohol Abuse Prevention website, every 40 minutes, 0.01 percent of alcohol leaves your system. Take a look at the attached charts to see how many is too many to get behind the wheel, based on your gender, height and weight.
