Do you think more gun control is the answer?
We all remember the horrific tragedies like the Colorado shooting where a man dressed as the joker opened fire in a movie theater. Another tragedy seared in our memories is of the children who died when another man went into the Connecticut school and opened fire. Our hearts broke and those are only two examples of why President Obama’s administration is now pushing tighter gun control.
There are some who believe that by limiting gun control will actually increase crime. They believe that criminals will refuse to obey the new laws just as the refuse to obey the current law. Policymic.com reports,
Note that each and every legal gun buyer in Michigan, and particularly Detroit, must be approved by the local police at least twice each and every time they purchase a gun and undergo a background check by the federal government. As a result, Detroit has the second highest murder rate in the nation and is considered by many to be the most dangerous city in which to live in the United States. Simply put, gun control, as a means of controlling crime and protecting law abiding citizens, is a dismal failure.”
Michigan does boast 2 of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. – Flint and Detroit. If you live or have grown up around either of those cities, you are not new to gun violence.
Policymic.com quotes a beloved President Ronald Reagan quote,
Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.”
So what do you think? What is the answer to this issue of gun control? Should the government put tighter rules and make it even hard to purchase guns in America? Or is there already enough regulations?
